App Marketing

Getting ahead in the competitive app market

Marketing apps has a number of unique requirements. It's own field of SEO, push notifications and in-app copy. By working with apps, I have used my skills in new and unexpected ways. Push notifications bring their own challenges and writing the script for a Google Assistant app was an entirely new experience!

Considerations when editing the App's Store page
  • App name and any keywords you might use.
  • App description, is it informative and persuasive?
  • Preview video, show off the app's best features.
  • Screenshots, do they sell the app?
  • What's New copy, tell the users about any exciting new features.

Push Notifications.

When done right a push notification can create a huge positive impact on sessions and engagement.
When done wrong, you're going to annoy a lot of customers!

When a user agrees to having notifications, they're putting trust in you to not over do it, to not annoy them. And for different apps, people have different expectations.

For a transport app, users expect informative notifications. At Mapway I helped to shape the notifications and decide the type of messages that would go out.

Through push notifications I could tell users about an up-coming strike, sending thousands of users to our website. I could also tell them about similar apps from our catalogue that they might like to try.
